Authority Domain Age

16 Feb 2018

You basically have the domain of your website and its age. Some of you might think that you can determine the exact date when you purchased that age, but that’s not how it happens.

If you think Google uses the Who is algorithm to determine your domain age, take a look at our video. You will find it’s not so.

Google looks at the first time they’ve ever found about your website. It can mean that the “date of birth” of your website happens when for the first time the Google crawlers reach your website. In other words, this is the initial point of your website.

On the other hand, the initial point can be when Google finds a link that sends to your website. In this case, Google crawlers don’t go to your website, but it already knows there are other links on other websites directing to your site.

The domain age

It’s one of the factors that contributes at how your website is ranking in search results.

Basically, it states for how long your domain has been around.

As you already know, the age of a domain is calculated from the first day Google has indexed it, or just saw it. A domain could have been around for 10 years even, and there are chances that Google didn’t even see it.

Here is a video explaining how Google determines the domain age of a website.

Why is it important?

The age of a domain matters to a certain extent and newer domains generally struggle to get indexed and rank high in search results for their first few months. An old domain to encourage search engines to give it a higher rank, and it’s part of our SEO efforts.

There are only some ways through which you can modify the domain age.

The first one, would be to buy a domain that has been around for a few years.

Your second option is one that comes naturally: let the time pass by, and you will see that by building your website from zero, in a few months you will see results.

A great way of fixing the domain age is to go to and make sure that you ping your website to the Google search crawlers, as the crawlers will start getting to your website. So, your domain age will be established and you’ll get a much higher rank and authority in the future for your own website.
