Almost 70% of Businesses Report Higher ROI from AI Content
As opposed to content written purely by humans

source: SEMrush.
Hmm, but wait: that was in 2024.
Fast-forward to 2026, there’s even more confidence in the SEO market, with more marketers relying on AI content. In April 2026 they showed that over 72% now see better results in SEO, thanks to AI content.
Of course, the studies were made on different groups of people, but it comes to show how many have become MUCH more successful at SEO by using AI Content.
And these are SEO professionals themselves, not people who don’t know how to do SEO.
Even the PROs have upped their game and managed to get better results.
The other thing to think about is: many of the others (so those who weren’t among the 70%) have reported same results. Which might just sound disapointing at first, but let’s face it: as a marketing professional you can get the same results with less work. This changes everything.
The reported results were per piece. But: because they’ve started creating more, they have accumulated more results.
Of course, smart marketers know how to stay away from potential content strategy problems related to increasing content volumes. That’s why experience in the field is extremely important when using AI. Read: Hubspot Incident – Part 1 – Part 2 – Part 3.
That Hubspot incident changed a lot of things in content marketing last year. Canva was affected, SEMrush was affected and many others.
Strategies started shifting.
Other people were afraid of AI content, due to Google updates.
What really happened?
The Hubspot incident -> determined marketing professionals and business owners to create more sites (each site targeting a specific set of keywords, to build topical authority) -> on the new sites, they mostly did random ChatGPT content (you know, that weak kind that you can build by just using a prompt, which is laughable); without things like Content Focus and Content Targeting, AI content is indeed weak -> NO human over-sight, poor quality (due to now using advanced stuff like targeting and focus).
So, the AI content was scaled on new domain names and it was really poor, due to the reasons I mentioned above.
Google got angry when seeing their algorithm actually made those types of content rank very high. Unreasonably high.
So they simply added more rules, which serious AI teams know about.
Just adding Human over-sight and editing, the AI content gets very good. By using things like Content Focus and Content Targeting, you also make it very useful and original for human visitors who reach the site. These also force expertise and proof of first-hand experience.
